About

My name is Heather Myers. There are quite a few people named Heather Myers, but none are quite like me.  Like all those "other" photographers, I too love photography. It is my passion, and I've been fortunate enough to share this with others in my life, and have it as my career.

The itch started for me during high school, but no, I did not shoot for the school paper or the photography club. Instead it was taking pictures of my closest friends at parties, at their houses, at social events and the likes of. I went on a trip with a few close friends for March break in the later years of high school. Four angst teens in a blue K car going to South Carolina. We got there. There wasn't a pivotal moment about this, except I longed to have a SLR camera to take with me to shoot these great places on the way. My mother would not let me take her old Leica, and thus I shot the whole trip on a point and shoot camera.
The images were great for what the cameras limitations are. But how I longed to take that Leica or a real camera on that trip.
I later travelled with two friends to Scotland where I worked and stayed for 4 months. This time I had a "real" camera, what a delight. I worked at a photo lab there where I would process travelers photos of the city, and the inhabitants of Edinburgh photos of each other.  So much fun being 18 in a new city. On the way home we stopped into paris, and of course fell in love (with the city).

I'm currently in the Durham region, Whitby more specifically. I have a beautiful son who makes me laugh consistently, and inspires me everyday to see the little and special things in life.

I love shooting portraits and interacting with people in this process of creating. People truly inspire me. I can't articulate this one in an intelligent and spectacular way other than I usually click with people and I love learning about new people and their stories through shooting their picture.

My creative images are my special moments just for me. It's a form of photography that keeps the mystery and passion of creating images new, inspiring and fresh for me.
